Wishes And Paper Puppets

I had planned to share this last week, but we had to take Sweeney to the animal hospital again (which is a whole other long topic for another day), and for quite a while I wasn't in a very joyous mindset to post it. At the moment, Sweeney seems to be doing okay, so I think now's a better time. Jose's sister was kind enough to lend us her camera for a few days so we could record my scholarship application video, and I had so much fun movie-making, I created another little video (or two) before sadly returning the camera.

I won the Los Angeles scholarship to The Blogcademy! I get to go to Hollywood in April! When I found out that I'd won, Jose was out of town for the weekend, so I celebrated with the kitties in the morning, then went wine & cupcake tasting with my parents. I'm soooo excited and a little bit nervous (probably much more nervous as the date approaches). I want to thank the three lovely headmistresses of The Blogcademy for choosing me, as well as all of my friends here, for your amazing and sweet support. I was totally blown away! I'm also really happy that my little puppets of Kat, Gala, Shauna, and Gareth got such a great response. I loved making them! If you've been reading here for a few years, you might remember that I made a puppet of Agent Lover Marie too. I think I'd like to make more of them. They're very simple to put together; all you need is paper (I used watercolor paper), paint or pencils, scissors, and tiny metal brads or a stick and tape, depending on the type of puppet.

I brought them all over to my friend's house the other day to show her daughter, O, and we made some more puppets from our imaginations. Then, O decided to do a photo shoot and conduct a twelve minute long video interviewing all of the puppets. She made me do voices for each of them. I didn't do accents because I didn't want to butcher them, but O got a pretty big kick out of my answers anyway. That might be a video I just share with close friends though, it's a little more than embarrassing!

Thank you heaps again to Kat Williams, Shauna Haider, and Gala Darling! You can expect lots of Blogcademy fun and LA adventures over here in April. In the meantime, I need to collect supplies, figure out what to wear, pick out some animal ears, and design some snazzy new business cards!
