Renegade Holiday Market

In December, Jose and I went with our friend Veronica to the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Market in San Francisco. As always, we got started way later than planned, and we ended up getting there about three hours before closing time, so we didn't get much leisurely wandering time. Also, it was extremely crowded to the point of being uncomfortable, so it was difficult to fight through the swarms of people to see everything. We usually attend the summer fair, and this was the first time trying the Holiday Market. I don't think we'll be going back again, but we did manage to have a bit of an adventure and find a few gifts.

I got to see and chat with the super-duper wonderful and talented Twinkie Chan, as I marveled at her amazing gingerbread house themed booth, complete with giant gumdrops. She was my number one reason for attending, so I'm really glad I got to see her again.

On the Santa Monica Pier, during our L.A. Adventure last summer, Liezl got blue cotton candy and I got pink. So for one of her Christmas gifts, I bought Liezl a blue cotton candy ornament by Twinkie Chan, and a pink cotton candy ornament for myself. I'm so glad I got to them in time, because they sold out pretty darn fast.

Veronica bought me a very accurate pinback button, and she also got one for Jose that says Cat Video Director, though I think that one would also be more descriptive of me.

Have you ever gone to the Renegade Craft Fair? Find any goodies?

  1. I went to a couple holiday craft fairs here in New York, but I wasn't so lucky with gift shopping. I did buy some earrings for myself.. :P Aw, those cotton candy ornaments are adorable!

    1. That's the dangerous thing, I saw a few things I really wanted for myself and not a whole lot for other people!

    1. Thank you! This Christmas, basically all of the gifts I gave were handmade by me or purchased from Etsy or other independent sellers, and I think that made them the best ever! It also helped that money was super tight this year so it sort of forced me to get very creative.

    1. Aw, that's a shame. We don't really have anything similar to it where I live, we had to drive for five hours to get to the fair! :(

  4. Those cotton candy ornaments are the cutest thing! I live in San Mateo and have yet to make it to a craft fair up in the city. It sounds exciting, though! Maybe I'll make it to the next one.

    1. I would definitely say it's worth visiting if you're that close to San Francisco. The regular one in summer to me is far better than the winter one, so you should check that one out for sure!

    1. Aw thanks so much for the compliment! ;) Actually right now it's more blonde-ish peach but I'm finally redoing it on Sunday, thank goodness.

  7. I LOVE Twinkie Chan's stuff. I have a cupcake beanie and an ice cream scoop hat of hers. I am currently saving up to get a cupcake coffee cup cover.
Looks like you had a rad time.
